The International Committee of Circle Ten Council is pleased to offer opportunities for Scouts to participate in International scouting experiences. Representatives of the council and districts meet regularly in order to guide this process and ensure it's success.

The First Philmont International Scouting Trek!

Win a Free Trip to Philmont! Deadline to enter Jan. 31, 2008

The International Division of the Boy Scouts of America is inviting one youth from our Council to participate in the first Philmont International Scouting Trek. The ages of eligible Scouts are 16-19 years by the date of the trek. The date of departure from Dallas is June 18, 2008. Departure to home city is June 29, 2008.

A written essay on the topic: “As a Scout, I could convince more young people from my community ( and surrounding communities) to join Scouting by organizing a membership recruitment plan that included these important steps/elements.”  The Council will select a single Scout based on the best essay written. Essays must be limited to 1,500 words in length. The BSA International Division will choose the top 10 essays from around the world and the top 10 essays from the USA. This will define the 20-member team that will be invited to Philmont. All expenses will be paid by the BSA, to include all domestic and International travel.

This special event will be conducted in conjunction with the International Division’s International Scouting Conference. The Philmont Interantional Trek will be a trek/forum to allow discussions based on the topic of the essay. At the conclusion of the trek, the Scouts will give a report to the International Scouting Conference based on the discussions they had during their time together.

    The Circle Ten Council has enjoyed an exchange program with Scouting Ireland since 2004. In 2006, Circle Ten Council will be sending a contingent of 16 Eagle Scouts and Venturers to Ireland June 24 - July 8, 2006. While in Ireland, Scouts will travel throughout the country, camp with the Scouts of Ireland and enjoy visits in the homes of Irish families. This is an official program of the Circle Ten Council International Committee. Adult leaders were prospected, interviewed and selected by the International Committee to ensure the quality and safety of this program.

    Scouts and Venturers must complete the application and meet the following requirements.

    * Eagle Scout or Venturer with officer experience in a Crew
    * Applicants must be at least 16 years old, but not yet 21 by July 8,2006
    * Currently registered in BSA.
    * Have Scoutmaster/Crew Advisor recommendation
    * All applications must be in hand at the Circle Ten Council Office by
    February 1, 2006.
