Directions
From Dallas take US 75 north to exit 69 (Hwy 120), turn west and follow Hwy 120 to Pottsboro and proceed straight west on FM 996. Follow FM 996 paved road past the church on the right. About ½ mile past the church take Locust Road left, proceed to Locust Grocery and turn right on Mill Creek Road. Follow paved road past Camp Texoma and the Girl Scout Camp. The camp entrance is on the right just past Mill Creek Resort Road.James Ray Scout Reservation is located on Lake Texoma near Pottsboro, Texas. This 540 acre camp offers camping, hiking, canoeing, sailing, rifle, shotgun and archery ranges, swimming, and 12 year round campsites.
Summer Camp programs include merit badge classes, rifle, shotgun, archery, sailing, canoeing, rowing, and motor boating using our waterfront on Lake Texoma. James Ray Scout Reservation is home to the Sanford Aquatics Center with a 280,000 gallon, one-of-a-kind swimming pool. This pool features a beach front entrance, two diving boards, two aqua jet systems, and a 141-foot water slide.
If you are looking for big lake adventure, how about canoeing to Goose Island? Located just across from the waterfront, Goose Island provides a unique overnight camping experience in the middle of Lake Texoma.
Weekend camping at Camp James Ray offers activities such as hiking, canoeing, rowing, shooting sports, and the Sanford Aquatics Center.
If hiking and exploring are what you want, take a hike across Homesites Road. You can enjoy our many trails with lots of wildlife.
Lake Texoma is famous for sand bass and stripers. The several miles of shoreline on Camp James Ray provide some great fishing. Remember to bring your fishing gear.
