What is the University of Scouting?

The University of Scouting is a Scout leader’s learning adventure! It is an action-packed, fun-filled single day of supplemental training where you choose the sessions that you wish to take. Sessions are led by experienced volunteers who will help you enhance your ability to deliver a fun and exciting program to the scouts.

The University of Scouting offers a wide range of unique adult leader training courses where:

College of Cub Scouting: Cub Scout leaders can pick up tips on "Making the Most of your Den Chief" or "Keeping Chaos from Controlling your Den" – just two of the 50 classes offered.

College of Boy Scouting: Boy Scout and Varsity Scout leaders can learn about any of BSA's high-adventure bases (including The Bechtel Summit) or get some pointers on "Meaningful Scoutmaster Conferences". Two great examples of more than 40 available classes.

New for 2012 is the introduction of the College of Venturing! Venturing advisors can spend the entire day on Venturing-specific topics.

New for 2012 is the introduction of the College of General Studies! Leaders and parents can take other general studies topics which span a variety of scouting programs.

College of Commissioner Science: Commissioners have a slate of offerings to help you earn a Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Commissioner Science.

Several new classes will be introduced in 2012 in all program areas.

Who should attend University of Scouting?

YOU should attend for sure, along with hundreds of your fellow Scout leaders from Circle Ten Council. All registered leaders, potential leaders and parents that are looking for the very best program for their Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venturers will find a variety of class sessions relevant to their position in Scouting.

How do I register and where will it be held?

Registration flyers will be available online and distributed at Roundtables and District meetings beginning in October. Online registration will be available in November. Both the course catalog and registration will be online at http://www.c10univ.org. This year we have expanded the number of available classrooms which will be in the Cox School of Business and the Bobby Lyle School of Engineering at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

What's included in my registration fee?

In addition to receiving a full day of fun, filled with interesting class sessions, handouts, and fellowship with hundreds of fellow Scouters, everyone will receive a special patch, drinks and a delicious lunch. We will also host a University Midway for you to meet with and learn more about our local, scout-friendly retail and charitable organizations. After the event, notes from many of the sessions will be available online.

Please be sure to visit http://www.c10univ.org for updates and information regarding class registration and information.
