Boy Scout Advancement and Awards
Boy Scouting provides a series of surmountable obstacles and steps in overcoming them through the advancement method. The Boy Scout plans his advancement and progresses at his own pace as he meets each challenge. The Boy Scout is rewarded for each achievement, which helps him gain self-confidence. The steps in the advancement system help a Boy Scout grow in self-reliance and in the ability to help others.
Uniform Insignia Guide The Boy Scouts of America has always been a uniformed body. Its uniforms help to create a sense of belonging. They symbolize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment.
For proper placement of badges and awards on the official uniform, refer to the Uniform and Insignia Guide, BSA Supply No. 33066, or the Boy Scout Uniform Inspection Sheet [PDF].
